The Rademacher Family invites you to This Old Farm Pioneer Village. Your visit will be a fun filled day for the whole family to enjoy. Our wide variety of collectibles will interest children, parents, and grandparents. We have items that every generation will have a story to tell the others. Four generations of our family have taken a lot of pride in creating Birch Ridge Village. Our goal is for you to leave with a special memory of days gone by. Our museum is the largest one man collection in central Minnesota. It is proof that dreams do come true. We have a dream that Grandpa's hobby of collecting antiques can be enjoyed by others. His inventive mind never stops and each year a new idea turns into reality.

The full second weekend in August is the Annual "Show Days" at Birch Ridge Village. These two exciting days are when all our family comes together and truly puts on a show. Each person has a job to do. Birch Ridge Village comes to life with many activities going on.

The Village

Barn The "Barn" was part of the original homestead . Once used for beef cattle and sheep, it now holds and array of items from horse drawn buggies to milk separators. A large selection of an old logging camp supplies are also setup inside the "Barn".

Blacksmith Shop This building contains a line shaft that runs a trip hammer, metal saw and other various machines. Many Blacksmithing and ferrier tools reside in the shop.

Birch Ridge Depot This is the original depot from the Disney movie "Iron Will", staring Mackenzie Austin, Kevin Spacy and Brian Cox. The movie was partly filmed on a public landing in Duluth, MN. In exchange for the use of some vehicles and wagons, This Old Farm was allowed to take down, transport and reassemble the depot in the museum.

Doctor's Office This building displays a full doctor and dentist office including all of the equipment from the early 1900's. *Construction of New Dr's Office Underway!!*

Filling Station This 1948 station was used for the repair and services of cars. Outside, the gas pumps that were used are the visible hand pump.

Fire Station This is the home of the 1946 Fire truck from the Pequot Lake Fire Department. The fire truck is used for fire protection of the building at This Old Farm.

Grainery This is a feed store that contains machines that shell, clean, sort and grind the grains and beans that a farmer would use. All of the machines in this building are run by a line shaft.

Log House This authentic log house was moved from an old homestead about 3 miles west of This Old Farm. It was once used as a house and a trading post later converted into a pig barn. When Richard Rademacher heard about this he moved it, cleaned it up and filled it with items that would have been used during the era of the original homestead.

Paul's Pocket Watch Once resided in downtown Brainerd and later purchased by Richard Rademacher from the city of Brainerd. Richard renovated the clock to its current working condition. The clock adds a nice touch to This Old Farm.

Post Office Rural post office containing items such as letter boxes and scales used in the 'ole days.

Print Shop Houses a set of linotypes that produce the lead print, and the printing presses that hold the print and press the ink onto the paper. Presses are run by hand, foot, belt or electric. The presses are used for printing the Old Farm Gazette and other special publications.

"Red Shed" This building contains thousands of antiques on display in show rooms such as a kitchen, living room, bedroom and parlor. It also has many showcases displaying items that are unique and rare.

Sawmill This Saw Mill is used to make lumber that is needed in the construction of the buildings and other various items on This Old Farm. It is belt driven by either a steam engine or a gas powered tractor.

Saloon Inside you will find a one armed bandit, player piano and original 7ft Texas longhorns. Many other novelty items are displayed in the Longhorn Saloon and are fun to see.

School House Originally from School District 183, this authentic one room school house was filled daily with student in the grades of 1st - 8th in the early 1920's. After it had outlived its use, it was converted to a place to store hay. When Richard Rademacher came across it, he moved it to This Old Farm and renovated it back to what it may have looked like in the early 1920's.

Shingle Mill The Shingle Mill contains the saw rigs that cut the cedar shingles that were used as a regular housing item. The mill is belt driven as well as the planers and lathmill that smooth the boards as they come off the the saw mill.

Sweet Shoppe Visit and admire the old time soda fountain, popcorn popper. The Sweet Shoppe also has a variety of children's toys and collectibles ranging from lunch boxes to bicycles.

Trading Post Used during the Show Days for demonstrations of black powder guns.

Church This church was built in 2001 by the Rademacher Family. This church was dedicated in memory of Minnie Rademacher (Davis). There has been a baptism and a wedding performed in this church.

Boutique Fashion is the talk of the town, visit the Buttons & Bows Botique to see the fashion of the day.

Music Box Filled with memorabilia from the past few decades of music.

Rads Sport Shop Sports Memorabilia from the days gone by and marine sports engines and boats.
